A team from WINLAB led by Ivan Seskar is among the collaborating university and industry partners—including project lead NYU Tandon School of Engineering, Princeton, NYU’s Pi-Radio, Nokia, and Analog Device—receiving funding support from a $10 million award from the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) to develop microchips and wireless systems for adaptive and resilient cellular wireless networks.

Congratulations to Ivan and the WINLAB team!

ECE Distinguished Professor Athina Petropulu received 2024 IEEE SPS Donald G. Fink Overview Paper Award.  The paper provides an overview on the emerging area of joint communication and radar sensing (JCR), aiming to integrate the above two functionalities into a single system by sharing the majority of hardware, signal processing modules and, in a typical case, the transmitted signal.

ECE  Professor Mehdi Javanmard and BME Professor Francois Berthiaume together received a New Jersey Commission for Spinal Cord Injury grant for the project "Dynamic Sensing of Pressure Wounds in Spinal Cord Injury".  This is a three-year $600,000 research project from December 2024 to November 2027.

Prof. Zoran Gajic received a one-time unrestricted gift for "Development of Reinforcement Learning Projects for Enhancement of Academic Curricula: RL for Engineers" in the amount of $12,000 from MathWorks.

Prof. Waheed Bajwa is recognized for his contributions to compressed sensing, communications, and machine learning in distributed systems.

After 18 months of dedicated preparation, the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department has successfully met the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) criteria once again. ABET evaluations occur every six years, ensuring the highest standards of engineering education. This achievement reflects the department's commitment to continuous improvement and excellence in engineering education.
