The University Research Council has recently awarded a grant to an interdisciplinary team that includes Assistant Professor Jorge Ortiz from the ECE department, for their proposed project "Toward next-generation 'intelligent' pharmaceutical drug product manufacturing for efficient patient healthcare." This project is led by Professor Rohit Ramachandran from the Chemical and Biochemical Engineering department. Assistant Professor Ortiz is a key member of the research team and will be providing his expertise in applying artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques for personalized drug delivery.

The interdisciplinary team comprises researchers from multiple departments, including Biomedical Engineering, Industrial and Systems Engineering, and Surgery. They aim to leverage advanced AI tools to analyze pharmacokinetic, pharmacodynamic, and metabolomic data. The goal is to design 3D printed drug tablets tailored to individual patient needs.
