ECE Ph.D. Student Ashwini Subramanian named Runner-Up in 3MT Competition
PhD. student Ashwini Subramanian, advised by Prof. Laleh Najafizadeh, has been awarded Runner-Up in the Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition organized by the Rutgers School of Graduate Studies (SGS).
The 3MT competition brings together graduate students from across disciplines. Finalists were evaluated by a panel of 9 judges from diverse backgrounds, including faculty, editors, and professionals in technology transfer, outreach, and alumni relations. Presentations were not judged only on technical depth, but on how clearly the research can be understood by an educated, non-specialist audience.
Ashwini's research focuses on understanding how pain influences cognitive function and on developing assistive technologies resilient to pain-related effects. According to the announcement, Ashwini's work “demonstrated how engineering innovation can address real-world challenges, and her delivery translated technical complexity into clear, engaging insights."
It is great to see ECE represented among the top finalists in this university-wide event. Attached is a photo of Ashwini receiving the award from Dean Mark Robson. More information can be found here.
Congratulations to Laleh and Ashwini!
