A group of three students, Ravi Raghavan, Shreyas Ramachandran, and Atharva Pandhare, from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, traveled to Indonesia in August 2024 to present their paper titled "Cloud-Connected Human-Drone Interface for Intuitive Navigation" at the 2024 IEEE International Symposium on Consumer Technology. The paper, based on the students' capstone project in Spring 2024, was supervised by ECE Professors Maria Striki and Sasan Haghani. This was the first IEEE conference experience for all three students, and they shared their enthusiasm about the opportunity. The project was sponsored by Novo Nordisk, Inc.
Ravi Raghavan expressed his gratitude for the chance to showcase their work: "It was a tremendous honor to present at the conference. The experience allowed me to connect with people from across the globe while exploring and learning about the latest technologies and research happening in various fields."
Shreyas Ramachandran reflected on how the conference broadened his perspectives: "The conference was truly an amazing experience and opportunity. I was able to network myself and understand the larger scope of projects and industry. The conference has given me much confidence moving forward, and I look forward to attending more."
Atharva Pandhare highlighted the platform the conference provided for knowledge exchange: "The conference was truly a great platform to present our paper. I was able to connect with professors and peers across the world, learning about their work and their fields. The conference gave me a new perspective on the state of innovation around the world."
Their participation in this international event not only showcased the students’ technical expertise but also allowed them to gain invaluable insights and connections within the global academic and industrial community.
Sasan will talk more about the publication opportunities for Capstone project teams at the department faculty meeting on September 18.
Congratulations to Sasan, Maria and the students!
